History: Eugene, or Sam to his friends and family, was born in Cardiff to Samuel and Lillith Fisher. He was named after his great-uncle-the-famous-writer, who had given Sam's father a motorcycle and his typewriter, and a leather jacket besides. It was because of Sam's great uncle's generosity that Samuel Fisher considered himself a writer as well, and lived the lifestyle as best he could. That was in his opinion - mostly drinking, sleeping with women that weren't his wife, and not keeping down a regular job. When Sam was five, his mother found Samuel Fisher indulging in the writer's lifestyle all at the same time, and with her best friend besides. Two stormy hours later, Sam and Lillith were packed up and gone, off to London proper. Lillith got a job as a bookkeeper for a local Notting Hill shop, and two years later she met George Tyler there, an Air Force pilot on leave for a month in London. George fell in love with the mother and the son, and courted them both - flowers for Lillith and quality time with Sam. It was fairly obvious to anyone watching that the feelings were completely mutual. George brought Lillith and Sam over to the States, where he married Lillith and adopted Sam as his own. Sam finally had a father figure to look up to, and soon after, a little brother to look after, an aunt and uncle to love him and plenty of cousins to play with. George retired from the service, and joined the local police force, working his way up to Vice Detective. Sam, following in his stepfather's footsteps, left his graduation ceremony and immediately signed up to join the police academy. He had a brilliant and perceptive mind, and passed the detective exam with flying colors when he was 22. His parents were thrilled and proud, especially George. It was shortly after he joined the Homicide Division that he met his wife, Susan Torres, a lawyer. They bumped cue sticks one night at a local bar, got to talking and she ended up giving him her number. He left that night, telling his friends that Susan was the woman he was going to marry. He was not wrong. They were married a year later - he had proposed six months in, just before she was going to tell him that she was pregnant. Three months after their honeymoon, they welcomed Tobias Alejandro Tyler into the world. Things were blissful with Sam for the next three years - his career was going well and his casework was interesting and fulfilling, his wife was wonderful and his son a joy. His family was big and happy - he and Susan just bought a house and a dog because Susan's own career was going so well. That was when the accident happened. Susan had been driving home late from a deposition, when her car was struck head-on by a drunk driver, a son of a rather rich Florida businessman. Sam found himself widowed and with a son to raise, embroiled in court cases and lawsuits. He walked away numbly to see the son incarcerated and he and Tobey set for life from the lawsuits. He became more closed off, keeping to himself and to his son for the first few months, until the rest of the Tylers came pounding on his door. If it hadn't been for his family, he would have become a total recluse. He's just recently gone back to work, now that Tobey is old enough to be in preschool, but he is still pretty shaky.
